Montvalent - causse, falaises et vallée

How to reach Montvalent

The commune of Montvalent lies in the north of the department of Lot(46), in the extreme north of the Midi-Pyrénées region, only 45 minutes from Brive-la-Gaillarde to the north.

Lying at the crossroads of three regions, Midi-Pyrénées, Limousin and Aquitaine, Montvalent has excellent road communications. Interchanges 54 and 55 of the A20 autoroute are within 20 minutes drive, making Paris a five hour drive and Toulouse to the south a two hour drive. At nearby Brive the east-west A89 autoroute crosses the north-south A20, making it simple to reach the cities of Bordeaux to the west, Geneva to the east and all points in between.

The airport of Brive-Vallée de la Dordogne between Martel and Brive is only 25 minutes drive away. There are regular flights to Paris Orly (www.airlinair.com), flights to London City from April to October and at Christmas (www.citijet.com), new in 2011, summer flights to Manchester (www.jet2.com). Other nearby airports with regular flights to the UK include Limoges (2 hours) and Rodez (2 hours).

There are regular trains from Paris to Toulouse via Brive, and a connecting TER service from Brive to Saint-Denis-les-Martel, about 10 minutes drive from Montvalent.

The heart of the village of Montvalent is 10km south of Martel on the D840, 3km south of the bridge over the Dordogne at Gluges, in an imposing position overlooking the valley of the Dordogne.
